IEEE Canadian Review (ICR)

About ICR

The IEEE Canadian Review was conceived by Bob Alden (1988-89 IEEE Region 7 director) to correct an image problem by introducing a high visibility, uniquely Canadian IEEE member benefit. At that time, IEEE activities in Canada were viewed as being dominated by the IEEE headquarters in New York City. This in spite of the fact that our 20 sections with about 15 thousand members operated a highly regarded program of local and national events – including the long running regional conferences that alternated between Toronto and Montreal, all planned and operated by Canadians.

The IEEE Canadian Review‘s Mission is as follows:

  • To inform Canadian members of IEEE on issues related to the impacts of technology, its role in providing economic and societal benefits within Canada, and policy issues around its adoption,
  • To recognize the achievements of the people within IEEE Canada as represented through their diverse technical and non-technical activities, events and awards,
  • To foster growth in the size and quality of Canada’s pool of technology professionals,
  • To support initiatives and organizational objectives of the IEEE Canada leadership team,
  • To reach out to members of Canada’s broad technology community — spanning industry, academia and government.

Editoria Team

Our team works with great care and diligence on each and every issue.

Associate Editors play a key role in developing technology-oriented feature articles, which must be of interest to readers across a broad range of IEEE fields of interest.

Our Contributing Editors deliver regular columns focusing on particular fields of interest, as well as round-ups of business news from technology companies.

In our Departments, guest contributors share their insights and experiences — seasoned veterans and new entrants to the profession alike. The Editor-in-Chief ensures all content is consistent with the magazine’s Mission, and that it maintains our standards in terms of technical content and reader engagement. He or she is charged with bringing together the diverse range of expertise and skillsets needed to fulfill the magazine’s complex mandate.
